St. Patricks College

St. Patricks College, Dublin, is a medium sized college of education with over 2,600 students taking courses in Education and Humanities at undergraduate and postgraduate level. A new build expansion of the college, including lecture halls, offices, staff rooms, was completed in 2015. Hager provided klik 4 and 7 pin system as a lighting control solution.

The campus development comprised of two new teaching blocks of approximately 4,900m² each incorporating lecture theatres, study areas, workshops, café, in addition to a new sports building of approximately 960m². Three existing teaching and administration blocks were mechanically and electrically refurbished. Another block was totally refurbished to include a new linked walkway from the two new teaching blocks to the existing teaching and administration blocks. Landscaping works including external lighting and underground ducts and cabling were also completed.

The new library is the centrepiece of this redevelopment, along with a new pedestrian entrance lined by trees from the original 18th century estate. Visitors are showered in coloured light on entering: the spectrum of stained-glass panes is a nod to the stained-glass windows adorning the deconsecrated chapel off the campus’s central quad.

Hager worked with the Electrical Contractor, Cosgrove Electrical, on this project, with whom we have also completed many similar projects using Hager's klik 4 and 7 pin system. Together we designed a solution answering their requirements for lighting connection and control. Klik 7 pin system can be totally pluggable from the distribution board to the final connection point and is therefore remarkably quick to install. This means that time on-site and, consequently, costs are dramatically reduced.
