Windsor Park Stadium

Experience Gained at the Kingspan (Ravenhill) Stadium and strong relationships made Hager the perfect partner at the new home of football…..
After impressing at the new Kingspan Stadium – the home of Ulster Rugby – Hager once again put in a match-winning performance at the redevelopment of the National Stadium at Windsor Park. The company’s relationship in designing boards with panel builder partner Hanover Systems, in addition to being the sole contact point for such a large contract made Hager the favourable choice for such a prestigious project.

Mervyn Knox, Area Sales Manager for Hager Northern Ireland, said the company’s experience of working on the redevelopment of Ravenhill (now known as the Kingspan Stadium) helped greatly on this similar project. “We have many years of experience working on large scale projects but stadiums offer their own set of unique challenges,” he said. “For example, at Ravenhill, this project was carried out mid-season while games were still being played so that in itself, put additional pressure on everyone involved to deliver on time.

“In the past, we have worked with both William Coates Ltd and Hanover Switchgear and as a result have strong working relationships with them. These relationships helped get everybody on board when faced with strict deadlines and schedules for this project. We worked closely and in partnership at both the design stage and on-site with our focus at all times to make the installation process as quick as possible.”

Hager products and solutions used at the National Stadium at Windsor Park include:
  • Invicta 3 panel boards
  • JK Invicta 3 MCB boards, contactors, RCBOs and MCBs
  • Main switchboards, MCCB devices

Mervyn added, “Today the pressure on all areas of construction is to reduce costs and improve efficiency during installation stage, our solutions are designed to help our customers meet these needs. As well as working closely with Hanover Systems on products installed in the panels, we also worked with Walter S. Mercer, one of our Belfast stockists to ensure fast and efficient delivery of our standard off-the-shelf products.”

Also supplied by Hager for the National Stadium project were Invicta 3 Type 3 distribution boards and h3 MCCB devices. h3 is Hager’s new range of MCCBs that provide safe and easy solutions for low voltage electrical circuit protection. The-state-of-the-art circuit breakers offer both designers and installers a wide range of features and benefits. Special attention has been given to ergonomics, especially with the integration of these devices into the TP&N and panel board range.

“We are proud to have been involved in the National Stadium project” concluded Mervyn. “To be associated with projects for both the new home of rugby and football in Northern Ireland is a major achievement and one we were excited to be involved in. We can now bring the experience we gained on these projects to future projects of similar stature.
